Minox 8x25 Binocular Review

We tested these just shortly before dusk, and even in low light these are some of the clearest compact binoculars we've seen yet.  Optical quality is stellar when compared to other compact binoculars at this price.  There is virtually no chromatic aberration.  Clarity is excellent, and the color is as close to real life as we have seen in a compact.  There is little rolling ball effect, and the eyecups allow for optimal eye relief and comfortable viewing.  This is notable because we usually have problems with compacts.  No so in this case.

The Minox 8x25 has four position adjustable eyecups, instead of the three position eyecups usually found on compact binoculars.  These binoculars really fit well when wearing eyeglasses.  The focus knob is plastic, but does feature raised rubber sections to make focusing easier while wearing a pair of gloves.  The focus itself is very smooth and fast, making it easy to go from close focus to infinity with just under one turn.  Precise adjustment is effortless with a single finger.  The aluminum body is surrounded by rubber armor and weighs in at just under 11 ounches.  A very high quality padded fabric carrying case is included, and features a belt loop for those of you who wear your binoculars as a fashion statement.  A and a nice strap rounds out the package.  We're not normally impressed with compact binoculars, but these are an exception.  It's easy to see why this is Minox's most popular pair of binoculars.

These are some of the best German-made binoculars you're going to find at this price, period.  If you're an avid outdoorsman who appreciates quality but can't stomach some of the higher prices associated with German brands, the Minox 8x25 binocular is something you should consider.
