The In-Bore Laser provides an excellent training aid for dry fire practice. The In-Bore Laser slips into the bore of your firearm and is triggered by the vibration of the hammer or striker drop. Designed to fit the most popular bore sizes (38cal/9mm, 40, 44, and 45 cal) and can fit down to a 2 inch barrel length. No need to purchase multiple adaptors to fit your bore size. The In-Bore Laser is compatible with all Laser Marksman targets.
AIMPOINT
The In-Bore Laser can be adjusted for alignment with your sights. With the four screws on the nose of the In-Bore Laser, you can adjust the laser beam to exactly fit your sight picture.
CONSTRUCTION
The In-Bore Laser is fabricated from aluminum, brass and delrin to prevent damage to the bore of the firearm. There are no wear items that will need to be replaced in only a few thousand shots.
BATTERY LIFE
No need to remove the batteries between practice sessions. The batteries will last nearly the shelf life of the batteries (several years or more) if not used, or over 50,000 shots.
Revolver
If you have a revolver there is no need to buy multiple units since the In-Bore fits in your barrel and not the chamber.
Single Action Operation
There is a black groove around the barrel of the laser behind the nose of the laser denoting that it is a Single Action Laser. The laser is tuned to ignore the cocking of the single action but it still actuated by the vibration of the hammer/striker drop. There is a fine line between ignoring the cocking mechanical noise and detecting the hammer drop vibrations. This tuning requires a good solid connection between the laser and the firearm. When installing the laser, the laser bushing needs to be tight. Tighten the bushing so that it takes at least 5-10 lbs of force to push the laser into the bore. Test fire the laser. If it fires intermittently, tighten the bushing and test again. Turning the laser in the bore about 90 degrees will also help find the sweet spot for the hammer vibration detection.
Installation
When setting up the In-Bore Dry Fire Laser, first select the correct bushing for your firearm. The laser is factory shipped with the 38cal/9 mm hardware installed. Next, place the proper o-ring on the front of the In-Bore Dry Fire Laser. Only one o-ring is installed at a time. The smaller o-ring is used with the 38cal/9mm and 40 cal bushings. The larger o-ring is used with the 44/45 caliber bushing.
The bushing should be adjusted so the In-Bore Dry Fire Laser can be inserted into the barrel with approximately 5 to 10 lbs of force. The slip fit can be adjusted by tightening or loosening the screw at the rear of the In-Bore Dry Fire Laser to increase or decrease the effective diameter of the bushing. The tighter the fit, the more sensitive the In-Bore Dry Fire Laser will be to the firearm. On some striker firearms, the laser can be tightened with the barrel removed and tightened through the breach. This will increase the amount of sensitivity to the laser from the striker.
Sighting
The In-Bore Dry Fire Laser aim point can be adjusted with the four set screws located in the orange knurled ring. Loosen the screw on the side of the direction the laser aim point is to be moved and slowly turn the screw on the opposite side until the laser is aligned. Repeat as necessary for elevation and windage. Gently retighten the set screws.
Note: Do not over-tighten the set screws. Over-tightening of the screws will damage the laser.
Battery Replacement
The battery is capable of many thousands of shots and does not need to be removed between practice sessions. Battery replacement is necessary when the laser is not bright enough to activate the target. To replace the battery pack, unscrew the knurled brass plug. The plug is a snug fit and may require pliers for removal. The battery pack is located inside of the laser body with a spring follower.
The battery pack is replaced with the positive terminal facing the plug. Make sure the battery plug is snugged with pliers. Replacement battery packs can be purchased, or two LR 626 batteries can be taped together to construct a battery pack. Trim the tape so it does not extend past the front or back of the battery ends. Do NOT put batteries in the chamber that are not taped together. It will short out the batteries.
