The Celestron TrekCel 3300 is a pretty useful little device. Built smaller than most flashlights, the TrekCel 3300 is an emergency four-mode flashlight, a battery pack, and charging device. It's small and light enough that it can fit in a backpack or pants pocket.
The Trekcel 3300 is no bigger than a candy bar, and weighs just 6.2 ounces. The four modes built into the 100 lumen white LED flashlight include a bright beam, dimmer beam, flashing mode, and SOS mode. The high and low beams aren't that much different from one another, but there is a noticable increase in brightness. On low brightness, battery life is rated at about 30 hours. This is nearly halved in high brightness mode, at only 17 hours. Still respectable - I can't recall getting 17 hours of life out of my cheap emergency flashlight batteries. The flashing mode is a rather slow flash (two or three per second). And the SOS mode is a nice feature as well.
The TrekCel 3300 features a five LED display above the power button, which shows how much charge is left in the internal 3300 mAh lithium ion battery. It's a nice feature, even more useful once you start exploring the charging capabilities of the TrekCel.
There is a mini-USB input on one side of the TrekCel for charging. This model will fully charge in about 4 hours on any USB cable, including plug in USB chargers. Celestron claims that the TrekCel 3300 can be charged over 500 times before the battery starts to wear.
If you're an avid camper, hunter, or outdoorsman, you will definitely see the value in the TrekCel 3300. It doesn't take much space in your luggage, serves multiple purposes, and it just works. I like the TrekCel 3300 so much that I've purchased one for my motorcycle emergency kit. Not only have I replaced my cheap non-rechargable flashlight, I have another source to charge my phone (and any other USB device) during an emergency.
The TrekCel 3300 is another product from Celestron that we'll endorse 100%.
