The Trueview IR 4-12x40 falls somewhere between Bresser's entry-level Hunter scopes and the more rugged Konig scopes. This scope features an anodized aluminum body, 1 inch main tube, 1/4" click adjustments, and illuminated reticle.
Construction on the Trueview 4-12x40 is on par with the other Trueview scopes, and the apparent build quality alone is enough to set this scope apart from other market offerings at this price. As expected, the adjustment clicks are tight and deliberate, and the magnification and focus adjustment knobs are tight with no extra play.
Glass quality is comparable to that in scopes in the $100-200 price range - very clear with fine detail. The illuminated reticle is not completely illuminated, rather it's a plex (30/30) with illuminated dot. The illumination is very bright - shooters using this scope in low light probably won't need brightness any higher than the second or third setting.
Overall, we've found the 4-12x40 to be very true to the quality expected from the Trueview IR lineup. This certainly isn't a competitor with premium scopes with a price tag five or ten times higher, but we feel that it is a better value than many scopes at this price.
The Bresser Trueview IR rifle scope is perfect for hunting. Each Trueview IR has an adjustable brightness IR dot reticle that can be adjusted to any light conditions and a fast focus adjustment for quick target acquisition. The Trueview IR is waterproof, shockproof, and constructed with a hard anodized coating that will handle years of use.
