Bresser Konig 4-12x40 Review

 We're consistently surprised with the glass quality in these Konig scopes.  The 4-12x is no exception.  The glass is susprisingly clear for a scope at this price.  All things considered, the glass alone is enough to warrant a look by any regular shooter or hunter.

Construction on the entire Konig line is very good.  The body on the 4-12x40 is one piece anodized aluminum with 1 inch main diameter.  One thing we always look at is how well all the components fit.  On this scope, all the adjustment knobs and focus rings are tight, produce affirmative feedback, and have no extra play or looseness.  This scope also has the Konig reindexing turret system which allows the dials to be set to zero once the scope is sighted in, allowing the shooter to dial in the reticle for known ranges.

The illuminated 4A reticle is clear and is also very bright on its highest setting.  One gripe we do have with the Konig 4-12x40 (and something that does span the entire Konig lineup) is that the illuminated reticle is almost too bright on its highest setting, and it does start to illuminate the inside of the scope body when looking through the scope in low light.  In daylight it's not an issue, but it does mean that low-light shooters will want to keep it on setting 5 or 6.  

Overall, this is a good value at the price, and should be looked at by any hunter or shooter who wants some premium features without a high price tag.
