The Bresser Konig riflescopes are a step above the Bresser Trueview line. This particular model has a one inch body made from one piece anodized aluminum, 3-9x magnification, and an illuminated 4A reticle. This scope is waterproof, nitrogen purged, and is marketed as shockproof, though we didn't test the shockproof part. We have been assured by Bresser that the design is shock tested and passes their quality control.
When inspecting riflescopes, the first thing we check is build quality. We usually do this by turning all the knobs and adjustment dials to check resistance. Everything on the Konig 3-9x40 is tight, but not too tight. The windage and elevation adjustment dials are firm and respond with an audible click when making adjustments. Both the focus ring and magnification adjustment are firm and tight, but not too tight. The reticle illumination knob is also firm and is free of any play.
The glass quality is good, and under good lighting conditions the sight picture is very clear. The illuminated reticle is actually a 4A reticle with illuminated center dot. The illumination is good, although the higher settings may be slightly too bright to use at night, and most shooters won't need anything above 5 or 6 (out of 11 brightness settings). Higher settings actually start to illuminate the inside of the scope itself, which can be problematic in very dark hunting or shooting conditions. This isn't noticable in daylight.
This scope also includes a type of zero stop feature that allows the scope to be sighted in and the windage/elevation knobs to be set back to zero. This then allows the shooter to make adjustments for different ranges and eliminates the need for holdover at known ranges. You don't typically see features like this on an inexpensive scope, and it's nice to have.
This scope is a good value for the price, and although it doesn't compare to the more popular high end scopes, it's still something that budget conscious hunters and shooters should consider.
Bresser Trueview Konig riflescopes are premium optics with features you'd expect from a scope with triple the price tag. EAch Trueview Konig scope includes a body made of one piece aluminum, 30mm tube diameter, fully multi-coated optics, hard anodized finish for durability, variable brightness illuminated dot reticle, and 30mm rings.
