Bresser Trueview Konig 1-4x24 Review

There isn't much info available online for this scope, so we were really looking forward to getting our hands on one.  First impressions were good - this is a real 30mm scope with a one piece body and illuminated reticle, waterproofing, fogproofing, and a price that impresses.  The body is a sturdy adonized aluminum and "feels" well built.

Everything from the focusing ring to the adjustment knobs are tight and convey just enough resistance before easily and accurately dialing in our preferences.  The windage and elevation knobs are both labeled in quarter inch increments and marked with a number from 0-14 inches of adjustment (1/4 clicks @ 100 yards).  This scope also has a type of reindexing system that allows you to sight in, loosen a set screw on either the windage or elevation knobs, reset the knobs to zero, and retighten, making it easier to adjust for distance shooting.  We have plenty of experience with this type of reindexing system, and while we do prefer the tool-less design of some of the higher-end manufacturers, you can't dispute the fact that you're getting a reindexing feature on a scope under $200.  This is increasingly important for every type of shooter, even more so with guys who plan on using this scope for competition.

The illuminated Mil-Dot reticle (second focal plane) is a nice feature that will help extend hunting into the late night or early morning.  There are 11 brightness settings, the brightest of which is visible on an overcast day, with the dimmest being barely visible in complete darkness.  Barely visible is a good thing, you don't want a bright reticle ruining your low-light vision.  As far as clarity, the glass is very clear, fully multi-coated, and free of any surface defects.  Focus on this model Konig scope goes from a true 1x to 4x, and the focus adjustment ring on the ocular lens is smooth and precise.  The true 1x is important - a lot of scopes that are advertised as 1x scopes may actually be slightly over or under, for example .8x or 1.2x.  Not the case here, this scope is a true 1x mangifiying scope.

We tested Bresser's claim of waterproofing and fogproofing by subjecting it a little testing.  First, we submerged the scope in a tub of warm water with the reticle ON.  After an hour of total immersion, we put it into the freezer for an hour, again with the reticle ON.  We then took it out of the freezer and tested the moving parts and illumination, and found that it's completely waterproof and was not fogging internally.  This test is far more grueling than what most people will experience in the field, so we are comfortable asserting that this scope will stand up to abuse.

The package includes plastic scope covers, a spare CR2032 battery, and cleaning cloth.

This is some excellent glass at this price, and has plenty of features that will make it a serious contender for target shooting or hunting.  For the budget concsious hunter or compeition shooter, the Bresser Trueview Konig 1-4x24 is a real option in a very crowded field of rifle scopes.
