Bresser Condor 10x42 Binocular Review

The Bresser Condor 10x42 is a value binocular from Bresser, who is known for making reliable and high quality binoculars at a price point that is affordable to everyman outdoors enthusiast.  A soft carrying bag is included, as well as decent lens caps and neck strap.

The body is constructed of a hard polymer, with a hard rubber armor that will protect the Condor 10x42 from light abuse.  Full waterproofing has been tested at the factor to 3 feet for one minute, and the internals are nitrogen purged to protect from internal fogging due to fast temperature changes, such as moving from a cool winter's day to a warm hunting cabin.  Nitrogen purging is not a common feature found on binoculars under $100, so this is a nice feature.  The twist up eyecups are very basic, and do not have any locking positions between fully retracted and fully extended.  Truth be told, we have seen better eyecups, but for those of us who utilize the fully extended position most of the time, this shouldn't be an issue.

Weight is just 24 ounces, resepctable for this class.  Light enough to be carried for extended periods without causing arm fatigue.

Optically, the Bresser Condor 10x42 are for the price point, with fully multi-coated optics and BaK-4 prisms.  But they do not utilize the phase correction coatings that make prisms transmit more of the availble light.  This is, of course, a downside, but some tradeoffs are acceptable at this price.  Overall, light transmission is good enough for comfortable daytime viewing, and clarity and sharpness are standard - they don't disappoint.

The Bresser Condor 10x42 is a great binocular at a great price.  These binoculars will provide good performance at a price that is accessible to everybody, making them perfect for a knockaround binocular that you can take anywhere.
